The 6th edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 is going to take place from February 20 to March 22 in Karachi and Lahore, Pakistan. Six teams are going to take part in this tournament like every year.
These six franchises have already announced the list of players included in their teams. As per regulations, Each team’s squad for this year’s PSL must have a minimum of 16 players and a maximum of 18 players – three platinum players, three diamond players, three gold players, five silver players, two emerging players, and two (optional) players. Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi – these six teams will once again prove their superiority by fighting in the tournament. Islamabad United is owned by Ali Naqvi and Amna Naqvi. Former South African cricketer Johan Botha is appointed as the head coach of this team. Former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal is the assistant coach. Pakistan bowler Rumman Raees is the bowling coach. Corey Rutgers of the Netherlands is in the role of fielding coach and fitness trainer for this team.
Islamabad United has made a great team in the 6th edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021. They have retained 8 old players and picked up 10 new players. Pakistan’s Asif Ali holds the record for the second-fastest half-century (17 balls) in the league and the fifth-best strike rate (163.34) as well. He makes it there on the list of gold players of this team. He is also the highest run-scorer for this team (655).
Hasan Ali is the second-highest wicket-taker (59) in the league & belongs to this team. He also has the record of taking the most wickets (25) in a single edition. Another bowling all-rounder Faheem Ashraf of this team holds the record for the second-highest & third-highest wicket-taker of a single edition. He holds the record for the second-best average bowling (18.52) and the second-best strike rate (13.6) as well. The bowling all-rounder also holds the record for the second-highest wicket-taker in an innings (6-19, 4 overs).
Islamabad United has won 29 matches and lost 24 matches playing a total of 53 matches in the previous five editions. The team has reached the PSL final twice so far. This is the only team that has reached the final twice and won the title twice. They won the title once in the first edition of the tournament (2016) and again in the third edition (2018). But in the last two editions, they could not come up to their expectations. They finished the tournament at the bottom of the points table in the last edition. But this time they will be looking forward to ending the tournament by removing the stigma of failure and winning the title.
