PSL 2021 Match Highlights, Match 5: Zalmi gets their first points with a decent win

In the 5th match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021, an exciting match was played between Peshawar Zalmi and Multan Sultans on Tuesday (February 23) night at the National Stadium (Karachi). Peshawar Zalmi won by 6 wickets against their opponent Multan Sultans.

Peshawar Zalmi captain Wahab Riaz decided to bowl after winning the toss and sent the Multan Sultans to bat first.

Sultans opener Chris Lynn lost his wicket in the second over whilst coming to bat first. The Australian batsman was dismissed for one run in two consecutive matches. Then James Vince came on the wicket and teamed up with the captain Mohammad Rizwan. The Sultans reached to set up a big target with a pair of 82 for the second wicket and 71 for the third wicket. Mohammad Imran sent Rizwan to the dressing room after scoring 41 off 28 balls. But Vince was still on the other end of the wicket batting aggressively. With one over left in the innings, the English batsman returned to the pavilion. He scored 84 runs off 55 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes. For his great innings, the Sultans secured a challenging score of 195 for 4. Saqib Mahmood took the wickets for the Zalmi (2-36, 4 overs)

The two openers of Zalmi, Imam-ul-Haq and Kamran Akmal got off to a great start coming down to chase a huge target. They picked up 56 runs without losing a wicket in six overs of the power play. After the departure of Kamran Akmal scoring 37 off 24 balls, Tom Kohler-Cadmore came on the wicket and formed a partnership with Imam-ul-Haq. Although Imam-ul-Haq returned with a regret of not getting fifty with scoring 48 off 39 balls, Tom-Kohler Cadmore returned to the pavilion with 53 runs off 32 balls. Sherfane Rutherford and Shoaib Malik also played two effective innings of 15 off 6 balls and 11 off 5 balls respectively. In the end, thanks to Haider Ali’s unbeaten 24-run innings off 8 balls, which helped the Zalmi to reach the huge target with 1 over left. Emerging cricketer Shahnawaz Dhani was the best performer with the ball for the Sultans (2-44, 4 overs).

Peshawar Zalmi is now in fourth place on the points table with the first win of this event. On the other hand, Multan Sultans are in fifth place in the points table with the second defeat in a row.
