Pakistan tour of Bangladesh to take place with relaxed quarantine rules

After the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, the Pakistan cricket team will travel to Bangladesh to play a three-match T20I and two-match Test series. The three-match T20I series will start on November 19. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is arranging relaxed quarantine rules for Pakistan during this tour.

Pakistan does not have to do compulsory room quarantine after coming to Bangladesh. However, after entering the country, the entire team must undergo the Covid-19 test. Only those whose results are returns negative will be able to enter the bio-bubble safety zone of the series and they will be able to begin practicing immediately after passing the test.

Considering the current Covid-19 situation, the latest list made by the Bangladesh government defines Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are in the Green Zone. So, based on this list, BCB does not implement any room quarantine for the series.

3-day room quarantine has been mandatory in every international series in Bangladesh since the home series against Zimbabwe in February-March 2020. Following this rule, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Australia, and New Zealand have played in Bangladesh.

This time not only for the Pakistan team but also the cricketers of the host Bangladesh team does not have to undergo room quarantine. However, every player on the squad must have both doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. Besides, before entering the team hotel, a compulsory Covid-19 test has to be done. Even if a player is taken from outside of the squad during the series, that player must have received two doses of the vaccine and tested negative in the Covid-19 test.

Besides, the BCB is planning to allow fans to watch the game of this series from the field. BCB officials said that in order for fans to buy tickets for the upcoming cricket series and enjoy the match between the hosts Bangladesh and Pakistan in the gallery, they must show the certificate of the Covid-19 vaccination.
