Former Pakistan cricketer and well-known commentator, Ramiz Raja is going to start his journey as the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). After the expiration of the term of the current chairman of the PCB Ehsan Mani, the Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan has selected Ramiz for this post.
Meanwhile, Ramiz Raja has been nominated as the Board of Governors of the PCB by the Prime Minister’s Office. The next step is to get the responsibility of the chairman of the board. Popular cricket-based website Cricinfo has reported this news.
The last three-year term of PCB chairman Ehsan Mani ended on Wednesday. He was offered a short-term renewal of the contract but Mani did not agree to this. So his tenure as PCB chairman came to an end in three years.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan is the main patron of the PCB and Pakistan cricket. Last Monday, he met Ramiz Raja and talked about taking over the chairmanship of the PCB. But until then, there was a possibility of extending Mani’s term. However, that proposal has been denied by Mani.
That is why the country’s World Cup-winning captain and the current Prime Minister, Imran Khan wants to appoint Ramiz Raja as the next board chief, who has previously served as the chief executive of the PCB. Ramiz Raja has been chosen out of a desire to appoint a former cricketer as the head of the board.
