Auction for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) was held in Chennai on Thursday, February 18. For the Covid-19 situation, eight franchises participated in the auction in compliance with the rules of participating. 298 players were in this pool. 57 players among them have been sold at auction.

Each franchise can form a team of 18 to 25 players. Where a maximum of 8 overseas players can be kept in each team. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has made up their team with 22 players. Where there are eight overseas players. It is notable that, this time RCB has bought Kyle Jamieson and Glenn Maxwell as the second and third most expensive players in the IPL auction respectively. They have bought Kyle Jamieson for Rs. 15 crores and Glenn Maxwell for Rs. 14.25 crores. At the same time, RCB has selected several potential domestic cricketers.

 

Before the auction, RCB retained 12 players from the old squad and released 10 players. As a result, there were vacancies on their squad to buy 4 overseas players. They later traded Harshal Patel and overseas player Daniel Sams before the auction from the trading window. Out of the existing Rs. 35.40 crores with RCB, they have bought 8 new players in the auction for Rs 35.05 crores. Where there are three overseas players. They are Kyle Jamieson of New Zealand, Glenn Maxwell of Australia, and Daniel Christian of Australia as well. RCB still has Rs 0.35 crore left in their hand. Suyash Prabhudessai – 0.2 crore

The names of the retained players: Virat Kohli, Navdeep Saini, Washington Sundar, Mohammad Siraj, Kane Richardson, Pawan Deshpande, Shahbaz Ahmed, AB de Villiers, Devdut Padikkal, Yuzvendra Chahal, Joshua Philippe, Adam Zampa.
