Mustafizur Rahman given NOC
Mustafizur Rahman is all set to take part in the IPL 2021, he had expressed his desire to withdraw his name from the IPL to fulfill the responsibilities of the national team earlier. BCB chief selector Minhazul Abedin confirmed to the media that he is not going to be included in the squad for the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka and the board has considered that it will be better to play the IPL for the pacer.
Mohammed Shami is well and ready to play
India and Punjab Kings fast bowler Mohammed Shami was last seen to play in the first match of the Test series against Australia. The pacer broke his arm with a short ball from Pat Cummins and dropped out of the series. Shami has recovered and is at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore and is all set to return to the field for taking part in the IPL 2021 & continue his great form shown in the last edition, noting that he scalped 20 wickets at an economy rate of 8.57 in 14 matches last season.
Finn Allen has been added as a replacement for RCB
Due to the absence of Australia’s Josh Philippe for the entire IPL season this time around, his franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore has signed New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman, Finn Allen to replace him. In Super Smash 2020-21, the 21-year-old batsman became the tournament’s top run-scorer scoring 512 runs with a strike rate of 194, smashing 25 sixes, and won the title for Wellington. Like Josh Philippe, he has been included in the squad for his first IPL season with a base price of Rs 20 lakh.
Zampa will not be in the opening match of the tournament
Adam Zampa will miss the opening match of the IPL 2021 due to his marriage, RCB Cricket Director Mike Hesson confirmed in a video on the Twitter page of the franchise. The 28-year-old leg-spinner, who played 3 games last season, will not be available for the opening match of the season against defending champions Mumbai Indians.
Who will be Dhoni’s deputy?
Suresh Raina, who has been CSK captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s deputy since the first edition of the IPL in 2008, has not yet been selected as co-captain by the franchise. However, speculation has been rife that Jadeja could be a potential candidate. Raina withdrew his name from the last IPL for personal reasons and left the UAE before the starting of the tournament. Ajay Ratra has joined Delhi Capitals
Former wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra will join Delhi Capitals as an assistant coach. Mohammed Kaif is already in the same role in the franchise and Ricky Ponting is in charge of coaching as head coach. Pravin Amre is the batting coach and James Hopes is the bowling coach for the team. Ajay Ratra is working with Assam in domestic cricket and has played six Tests and 12 ODIs for India.
Appointment Damien Wright as the bowling coach of Punjab Kings
This season, the former Tasmanian all-rounder Damien Wright will join the Punjab Kings as bowling coach. He played in 123 first-class matches and 106 List-A matches. The franchise’s role for the head coach is to Anil Kumble, assistant coach is to Andy Flower, batting coach is to Wasim Jaffer, and fielding coach is to Jonty Rhodes. The Kings are desperate to end their futile run in the IPL and this former Worcestershire player is taking over Charles Langeveldt.
