India vs England Match Highlights, 2nd Test (Day 2): Ravichandran Ashwin places India to the driving seat

India lost six wickets for 300 runs at the end of the first day and came on the field on the second day with Akshar Patel and Rishabh Pant. Virat Kohli’s team collapsed within 8 overs of the start of the game. India lost all of their wickets to conjugate 29 runs to the scoreboard. Rishabh Pant started the day with 33 runs & was unbeaten on 58 at the end of the innings. 

Moeen Ali (4-128, 29 overs), Olly Stone (3-47, 15.5 overs), Jack Leach (2-78, 27 overs), & Joe Root (1-23, 11 overs) took the wickets for England.

Batting in their first innings, England collapsed like a house of cards in the aggressive bowling of the Indian bowlers. Joe Root’s team was bowled out for 134 by the amazing spell of Indian spinners. Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin took five wickets giving away only 43 runs. He became the first bowler in Test series history to prey 200. Ben Foakes scored the highest runs (42) in England’s innings. He was unbeaten on 42 off 107 balls for 2.15 hours. The wicketkeeper-batsman came to the wicket after losing five wickets for 52 runs. England lost a wicket in the first over of their innings & only Dom Sibley, Ben Stokes, and Ollie Pope scored double digits except for Foakes.

Ravichandran Ashwin (5-43, 23.5 overs), Akshar Patel (2-40, 20 overs), Ishant Sharma (2-22, 5 overs), and Mohammad Siraj (1-5, 5 overs) took the wickets for India.

Batting in their second innings, Indian opener Shubman Gill returned to the dressing room in the 12th over being lbw off left-arm spinner Jack Leach. India finished the day’s play with Rohit Sharma (25) and Cheteshwar Pujara (7) at the crease being 249 runs ahead of the visitors.
