Trailing by 218 runs at the end of the second day, Sri Lanka started the third day’s game with Dinesh Chandimal (43*) and Dhananjaya de Silva (23*) at the crease. In the fourth over of the day, Dinesh Chandimal (44) lost his wicket off Shannon Gabriel. After a while, it started raining. The rain interrupted the game throughout the day. After the game’s resumption, Dhananjaya de Silva (39) lost his wicket after falling into the trap of LBW in the ball of Jermaine Blackwood. Before going to the lunch break, the score of the visitors stood at 188 for 5.
The Sri Lankan batsmen were in danger of losing 3 wickets within 28 runs from the break.
