Cricket Highlights, 25 Apr: IPL 2021 (Match 19 & Match 20)

The 19th match of the IPL 2021 between Chennai Super Kings & Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the 20th match of the IPL 2021 between Delhi Capital & Sunrisers Hyderabad took place yesterday. Let’s have a look at the article to know about the exciting moments of the game.

IPL 2021 Match 19 (Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bangalore)

In the first match of the day on Sunday afternoon, Chennai Super Kings won by 69 runs against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Bangalore stopped at 122 losing 9 wickets chasing a huge target that was set by Chennai.

Chennai Captain, Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, Chennai scored 191 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. In which, Jadeja scored 62 runs. Faf du Plessis (50) played another 50-run inning. However, seeing Jadeja’s devastating batting in the last over of the innings off Harshal Patel, it might seem to many that it was Chris Gayle, Glenn Maxwell, or AB de Villiers. Poor Harshal gave away 51 runs in 4 overs. Among them, 37 runs were conceded in the last over itself. Ravindra Jadeja hit 5 sixes and 1 four in this over. Jadeja remained unbeaten scoring 62 runs from 28 balls.

RCB made a good start coming down to bat for a huge target of 192 runs. They lost 2 wickets in six overs of the Power Play and picked up 65 runs. But then RCB started losing wickets regularly in the great bowling spell of CSK’s bowlers. They fell out of the match as a result. Opener Devdut Padikal (34 off 15 balls) scored the highest runs for the team. Ravindra Jadeja took the most wickets for CSK (3-13, 4 overs).

After winning this match, Chennai Super Kings have risen to the top of the points table and Royal Challengers Bangalore are third in the points table after losing.

IPL 2021 Match 20 (Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad)

In the second match of the day on Sunday night in Chennai, Delhi Capitals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in super over. They (Delhi) batted first in the main match and scored 159 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Hyderabad scored 159 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs.

Delhi won the toss and elected to bat first. Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan scored 81 runs in the opening partnership. The team then lost the two openers within 3 runs gap. On the third wicket, Aussie batsman Steven Smith took the helm of the team with captain Rishabh Pant. Their partnership scored 58 runs. That was the reason behind the team getting the fighting total. Prithvi played an innings of 53 runs from 39 balls for the team. Siddarth Kaul got 2 wickets conceding 31 runs for Hyderabad.

Chasing the target of 160 runs, Hyderabad was going ahead with building up some small pairs. Captain David Warner was run-out scoring 6 runs. Another opener Jonny Bairstow continued to bat quite aggressively at the other end. He was dismissed by Avesh Khan scoring 38 off 18 balls and he hit 3 fours and 4 sixes. Then Kane Williamson continued to bat at one end. Basically, the team could go up to the super over because of him. He remained unbeaten scoring 66 runs off 51 balls and was the best performer with the bat for his team on the day. Avesh Khan took 3 wickets giving away 34 runs for Delhi.

Sunrisers Hyderabad batted first in the super over and scored 7 runs. After that, Delhi Capitals struggled to chase the easy target of 8 runs. They had to wait until the last ball. The thrill was there too. There was a strong possibility of being run out on the last ball. However, the batsman survived and they won the match. In the end, Delhi Capitals moved up to the second position in the points table by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad.
