The 5th & final match of the T20 series between India and England, the 1st ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand, and the 3rd & last T20I of the series between Afghanistan & Zimbabwe took place yesterday. Let’s have a glimpse to know about the exciting moments of them.
IND vs ENG (5th T20)
Virat Kohli’s team India beat England by 36 runs in the fifth and final T20 match in Ahmedabad by dint of great teamwork. India’s two best batsmen Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were on fire in the series-deciding match. India put up 224 runs on the board for the loss of 2 wickets against England on the day.
After losing the toss and opting to bat first, the opening pair of Kohli and Rohit brought 94 runs in 9 overs for India. Rohit made 64 off 34 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes. Kohli was unbeaten till the end with 80 off 52 balls (7 fours, 2 sixes). Suryakumar Yadav (32 off 17 balls) and Hardik Pandya (39 not out off 17 balls) were also devastating in this match.
Coming down to chase this huge target, England opener Jason Roy returned to the dressing room, scoring none after being bowled by fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the first over. Except for Jos Buttler (52) and Dawid Malan (68) who put on 130 off 75 balls, no one else was seen trying to reach India’s run hill for England. In the end, Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s (2-15, 4 overs) spell compelled England to lose 8 wickets and the visitors were stopped at 188 runs. Shardul Thakur took the highest wickets for India (3-45, 4 overs).
After the Test series, India also takes over the T20 series. India and England will meet in the first match of the three-match ODI series on March 23 at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

NZ vs BAN (1st ODI)
In the first ODI of the series in Dunedin, New Zealand defeated Bangladesh by 8 wickets with a decent performance in both the divisions of batting and bowling. Coming down to bat first after losing the toss, the batsmen of Bangladesh fell in front of the Kiwi bowlers’ cannons. The visitors collapsed like a house of cards in the aggressive bowling of the Kiwi pacer Trent Boult. After that Mahmudullah Riyad’s 54-ball 27-run innings helped the team to cross the Hundred mark. In the end, the visitors lost all of their wickets in 41.5 overs and managed to score 131 runs. Trent Boult took the highest number of wickets for the hosts (4-28, 8.5 overs).
Coming down to bat for an easy target of 132, New Zealand reached the target with 28.4 overs to spare, losing only two wickets through their devastating batting. Opener Henry Nicholls (49*) scored the highest for the team. Fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Hasan Mahmud took one wicket each for Bangladesh.
New Zealand takes a 1-0 lead in the three-match series by defeating Bangladesh in this match. The second ODI of the series will be played on March 23 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

AGF vs ZIM (3rd T20)
In the third and final match of the T20 series in Abu Dhabi, Afghanistan got a big victory by 47 runs with Najibullah Zadran’s great innings courtesy. Winning the toss, Afghanistan elected to bat first at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. They scored a good total of 183 runs, losing 7 wickets. Batsman Najibullah Zadran played devastating innings of unbeaten 72 off 35 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes. Blessing Muzarabani and Richard Ngarava took 2 wickets each for Zimbabwe.
Coming down to chase with a required rate of more than 9 runs per over, Zimbabwe never could raise the hope of winning. Zimbabwe’s batsmen lost their way to Afghanistan’s great bowling line-up. As a result, they lost 5 wickets batting for 20 overs and their innings stopped at 136 runs. Sikander Raza scored the highest runs for the team; he scored 41 runs playing 29 balls. Karim Janat was the highest wicket-taker for the Afghans (2-34, 4 overs).
Afghanistan whitewashes Zimbabwe by winning the last match of the three-match T20 series. Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan has also touched a new milestone. He has captained Afghanistan to 42 wins in International T20s. Former Indian captain MS Dhoni was at the top with 41 wins earlier.
