Cricket Highlights, 19 Oct: ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (Match 05 & 06)

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 05 (Scotland vs Papua New Guinea)

Scotland has defeated Papua New Guinea by 17 runs in the 5th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Al Amerat. At the same time, Scotland has picked up their second consecutive victory in the group stage match.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Scotland scored 165 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs courtesy of Richie Berrington’s great batting. Berrington played a devastating inning of 70 runs off 49 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes for the team. Matthew Cross also put up 45 off 36 balls for the team. For Papua New Guinea, Kabua Morea took the maximum number of 4 wickets and Chad Soper took 3 wickets.

Papua New Guinea got knocked out of the match after losing 5 wickets for 35 runs in 6 overs of the power play to chase the challenging target of 166 runs. After that, Sese Bau (24) and Norman Vanua (47) tried to get the team back in the match but it was not possible. In the end, Papua New Guinea’s innings came to a halt at 148 after losing all their wickets in 19.3 overs. Josh Davey took the maximum number of 4 wickets conceding 18 runs in 3.3 overs for Scotland.

Scotland is at top of the points table in Group B after winning the match. On the other hand, Papua New Guinea is now at the bottom of the points table with their second consecutive defeat.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 06 (Oman vs Bangladesh)

Bangladesh has got a great victory of 26 runs against Oman, thanks to the exceptional all-around skill of Shakib Al Hasan in the 6th match of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground in Al Amerat. The Tigers won the toss and elected to bat first, they lost all of their wickets in the allotted 20 overs to collect 153 runs.

Mohammad Naim played the highest innings of 64 runs in 50 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes for Bangladesh. Besides, Shakib scored 42 off 29 balls and captain Mahmudullah scored 17 off 10 balls. Bilal Khan and Fayyaz Butt took the highest number of 3 wickets each for Oman. Kaleemullah took 2 wickets and Zeeshan Maqsood took 1 wicket.

Chasing the target of 154 runs, Oman’s innings came to a halt with only 127 runs after losing 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs due to the great bowling of the bowlers of Bangladesh. For the team, Jatinder Singh played the best innings of 40 playing 33 balls. Besides, Kashyap Prajapati scored 21 and Mohammad Nadeem 14 runs. Mustafizur Rahman took the maximum number of 4 wickets for the Tigers. Besides, Shakib took 3 wickets, and Mahedi Hasan and Mohammad Saifuddin took 1 wicket each.

After winning this match, Bangladesh is in 3rd place in the points table of group B. Defeated Oman is still second in the points table on the other hand.
