In the eliminator match of the IPL 2021, Kolkata Knight Riders got a great victory by 4 wickets with 2 balls in hand against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. KKR has also secured its place in the 2nd qualifier.
After winning the toss and opting to bat first, RCB scored 138 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs due to the brilliant bowling of the bowlers of the KKR. The captain, Virat Kohli, played the best innings of 39 from 33 balls for the team. Devdutt Padikkal scored 21 runs, and Glenn Maxwell scored 15 runs. For KKR, Sunil Narine took the highest number of 4 wickets with 21 runs in 4 overs. Lockie Ferguson also took 2 wickets.
Chasing an easy target of 139, KKR lost 6 wickets and reached the port of victory in 19.4 overs. Shubman Gill scored the highest runs. He collected 29 runs off 18 balls for the team. Venkatesh Iyer scored 26 and Nitish Rana 23 runs. Besides, Sunil Narine played 26 off 15 balls innings, and Shakib Al Hasan scored 9 off 6 balls. Yuzvendra Chahal, Harshal Patel, and Mohammed Siraj took two wickets each for RCB.
RCB lost the match and was knocked out of the tournament. On the other hand, KKR will face Delhi Capitals in the second qualifier tomorrow.
