Australia has won the second semi-final match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 at the Dubai International Stadium, they have clinched a dramatic five-wicket win over Pakistan with six balls to spare, thanks to an adventurous inning by Matthew Wade. After losing the toss, Pakistan batted first and scored 176 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs.
For the Men in Green, Mohammad Rizwan hit 3 fours and 4 sixes, he scored the best among the Pakistani batters and made 67 off 52 balls. Besides, Babar Azam scored 39 off 34 balls and Fakhar Zaman remained unbeaten on 55 off 32 balls. Mitchell Starc took the highest number of 2 wickets for the Aussies. Adam Zampa and Pat Cummins also took one wicket each.
Coming down to chase a challenging target of 177 runs, the Pakistani bowlers took wickets regularly in their aggressive bowling and Australia was under some pressure from the very beginning. As a result, they lost 3 wickets to make 80 runs at the end of 9 overs. The Aussies were in danger when David Warner, who was leading the team to victory, returned to the pavilion with 49 off 30 balls.
Australia needed 62 runs in the last 5 overs to win. Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade led the team to victory with 1 overs in hand. Wade played a devastating inning of unbeaten 41 off 17 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes. Stoinis also hit two fours and two sixes in an unbeaten inning of 40 playing 31 balls. For Pakistan, Shadab Khan took the most number of 2 wickets and Shaheen Afridi took 1 wicket.
By winning this match, Australia has secured its place as the 2nd finalist of the tournament. On the other hand, after losing, Pakistan is out from the tournament. The final of the tournament will be played between New Zealand and Australia on November 14 at the Dubai International Stadium.
