The Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United met in the 15th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 on Wednesday night, June 9 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium (Abu Dhabi). The Lahore Qalandars beat their rivals Islamabad United by 5 wickets.

After losing the toss and opting to bat first, James Faulkner’s aggressive bowling shattered Islamabad United’s batting line-up like a house of cards. United lost 4 wickets to score only 50 runs, where Faulkner took 3 wickets. After that, they could not return to the match due to Rashid Khan’s whirlwind. Due to Rashid’s great spell (1-9, 4 overs), the United batsmen could not move the run wheel. In the end, United lost 9 wickets in 20 overs and managed to score 143 runs. Fahim Ashraf scored the highest 27 runs for the team.

The Qalandars batsmen got off to a good start coming down to chase the target. In 6 overs of the power play, they lost one wicket and scored 38 runs. The pair of 38 runs by Sohail Akhtar (40) and Mohammad Hafeez (29) laid the foundation of victory for them. Despite United trying hard to get back into the match, the Qalandars reached the port of victory with 5 wickets in hand at the end, relying on two stormy innings of Tim David (23 off 15 balls) and Rashid Khan (15 off 5 balls). 

Lahore Qalandars have risen to the top of the points table after winning the match and Islamabad United is fourth in the points table after losing.
