Chasing the target of 367 runs, England, who had scored 77 runs without losing a wicket at the end of the fourth day, took to the field on the morning of the fifth day with Rory Burns and Hasib Hamid at the crease. At the beginning of the day, Shardul Thakur broke the opening pair of 100 runs of England’s opening pair. Rory Burns returned to the dressing room scoring 50 runs. Another opener Haseeb Hameed scored 63 off 193 balls.

But then no one in the English camp could do well. Dawid Malan scored 5 runs. After coming down to bat at number four, the captain Joe Root returned to the pavilion with 36 runs off 78 balls. The Indian camp was overjoyed when Root was dismissed as the 7th batsman for England’s 182 runs. Besides, Ollie Pope 2, Jonny Bairstow 0, Moeen Ali 0, and Chris Woakes got out scoring 18 runs.

Almost everyone in the India team has done well with the ball. Umesh Yadav cut the tail of English with 3 wickets. Two pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Shardul Thakur, and spinner Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each. As a result, England was all-out collecting 210 runs. India got a huge victory of 157 runs. The win gave the visitors a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
