Cricket Highlights, 05 Nov: ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (Match 36 & 37)

The 36th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 between New Zealand and Namibia and the 37th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 between India and Scotland rolled on the field yesterday. 

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 36 (New Zealand vs Namibia)

James Neesham’s all-round performance at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the 36th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 gave New Zealand a big 52-run victory over Namibia. After losing the toss, New Zealand lost 4 wickets in 20 overs and scored 163 runs.

Glenn Phillips scored an unbeaten 39 off 21 balls with 1 four and 3 sixes, and James Neesham put up 35 off 23 balls, remaining unbeaten with 1 four and 2 sixes for the team. Besides, captain Kane Williamson made 28 runs off 25 balls. For Namibia, Bernard Scholtz, Gerhard Erasmus, and David Wiese took one wicket each.

Chasing a challenging target of 164, the Kiwis’ bowling cannon drove Namibia’s innings to come to a halt at 111 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Michael van Lingen scored the highest 25 runs for the team. Besides, Zane Green (23) and Stephan Baard (21) also played two innings. Tim Southee and Trent Boult took the maximum number of 2 wickets for the Black Caps. Besides, Mitchell Santner, James Neesham, and Ish Sodhi took 1 wicket each.

After winning this match, New Zealand has risen to 2nd place in the points table of Group 2 with the 3rd win in a row in Super 12. On the other hand, Namibia is in the 5th position of the points table with the 3rd defeat in a row.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 37 (India vs Scotland)

In the day’s second match, India picked up a huge eight-wicket win against Scotland at the Dubai International Stadium with 81 balls to spare. After losing the toss and choosing to bat first, Scotland got bowled out for 85 in 17.4 overs by the Indian bowlers.

For Scotland, George Munsey played the highest innings of 24 off 19 balls. Michael Leask scored 21, and Calum MacLeod scored 16 runs. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami took the maximum number of 3 wickets each for the Men in Blues. Besides, Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets, and Ravichandran Ashwin took 1 wicket each.

Batting for an easy target of 86 runs, India lost 2 wickets in just 6.3 overs and reached the port of victory. KL Rahul played the highest innings of 50 runs in 19 balls, hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes. Besides, Rohit Sharma scored 30 runs off 16 balls. Mark Watt and Bradley Wheal took one wicket each for Scotland. 

After winning this match, India has risen to 3rd place in the points table of Group 2 in Super 12. On the other hand, Scotland is at the bottom of the points table with their 4th consecutive defeat.
