The 32nd match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 between New Zealand and Scotland and the 33rd match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 between India and Afghanistan rolled on the field yesterday. 

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 32 (New Zealand vs Scotland)

New Zealand has defeated Scotland by 16 runs in the 32nd match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 at the Dubai International Stadium, thanks to a great inning by Martin Guptill. After losing the toss, New Zealand lost 5 wickets in 20 overs and scored 172 runs.

Martin Guptill played a devastating inning of 93 off 56 balls smashing 6 fours and 7 sixes. Glenn Phillips scored 33 and Daryl Mitchell scored 13 runs. For Scotland, Safyaan Sharif and Bradley Wheal took the most number of 2 wickets and Mark Watt took 1 wicket each.

To chase the challenging target of 173 runs, the Scots’ innings stopped at 156 runs losing 5 wickets in the allotted 20 overs due to the great bowling of the kiwi bowlers. Michael Leask scored the highest unbeaten 42 off 20 balls for the team. Matthew Cross (27) and George Munsey (22) also played two innings. Trent Boult and Ish Sodhi took the maximum number of 2 wickets for the Black Caps. Besides, Tim Southee took 1 wicket.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 33 (India vs Afghanistan)

In the day’s second match, India won by 66 runs against Afghanistan at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. At the same time, the Men in Blues have got the first victory in this tournament.

After losing the toss and opting to bat first, India lost just two wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored a huge 210 runs. Rohit Sharma played a great inning for the team hitting 8 fours and 3 sixes, he made 74 runs from 47 balls. Besides, KL Rahul (69 off 48 balls), Hardik Pandya (35 off 13 balls), and Rishabh Pant (27 off 13 balls) each played stormy innings. Gulbadin Naib and Karim Janat took one wicket each for the Afghans.

Chasing a huge target of 211, the Indian bowlers bowled brilliantly and lost 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs to stop Afghanistan at 144 runs. Karim Janat scored the highest unbeaten 42 off 22 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Besides, the captain Mohammad Nabi scored 35 and Rahmanullah Gurbaz 19 runs. For India, Mohammed Shami took the highest number of 3 wickets. Besides, Ravichandran Ashwin took 2 wickets, and Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja took 1 wicket each.

After winning this match, India has risen to the 4th position in the points table of Group 2 in Super 12. On the other hand, Afghanistan is still in 2nd position on the points table after losing.
