Cricket Highlights, 02 Nov: ICC Men’s T20 World Cup (Match 30 & 31)

The 30th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 between South Africa and Bangladesh and the 31st match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 between Pakistan and Namibia rolled on the field yesterday. 

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 30 (South Africa vs Bangladesh)

In the 30th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, South Africa won by 6 wickets with 39 balls to spare against Bangladesh at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. After losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh was bowled out for 84 runs in 18.2 overs by the Proteas.

Mahedi Hasan played the highest innings of 27 runs from 25 balls for the Tigers. Liton Das scored 24, and Shamim Hossain scored 11 runs. Besides, no other batsman on the team could make the double-digit score. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje took the maximum number of 3 wickets each for the Proteas. Besides, Tabraiz Shamsi took 2 wickets, and Dwaine Pretorius took 1 wicket each.

Chasing an easy target of 85 runs, South Africa lost 4 wickets in just 13.3 overs and reached the victory port. For the team, captain Temba Bavuma scored the highest runs remaining unbeaten on 31 off 28 balls. Rassie van der Dussen (22) and Quinton de Kock (16) also played two good innings. Taskin Ahmed took the most 2 wickets for Bangladesh, and Mahedi Hasan and Nasum Ahmed took 1 wicket each.

After winning this match, South Africa has risen to 2nd place in the points table of Group 1 with the 3rd consecutive victory in Super 12. On the other hand, with the 4th straight defeat, Bangladesh is at the bottom of the points table.

ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 – Match 31 (Pakistan vs Namibia)

In the second match of the day, Pakistan has defeated Namibia by 45 runs at the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. At the same time, the Men in Green have confirmed their semi-final spot as the first team of Group 2.

Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first; they lost just 2 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored a huge 189 runs. Mohammad Rizwan played an unbeaten inning of 79, playing 50 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes. Besides, Babar Azam scored 70 off 49 balls and Mohammad Hafeez scored 32 off 16 balls. David Wiese and Jan Frylinck took one wicket each for Namibia.

Chasing a huge target of 190, Namibia’s innings came to a halt at 144 after losing five wickets in the allotted 20 overs due to the brilliant bowling of Pakistani bowlers. David Wiese top-scored with 43 off 31 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Craig Williams scored 40 and Stephan Baard 29 runs. Imad Wasim, Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, and Shadab Khan took one wicket each for Pakistan.

After winning this match and winning the 4th match in a row in Super 12, Pakistan has maintained the top position in the points table of Group 2. On the other hand, Namibia is in fourth position on the points table with their second consecutive defeat.
