The 1st Test played between New Zealand and Pakistan will be held at the Bay Oval Cricket Ground in Mount Maunganui. The match will be kicked off on 26th December (Saturday) at 04:00 (GMT+6).
After playing in the T20I series, which was won by New Zealand to the dismay of the Pakistan side by a 2-1 margin, the two sides will face off in a two-match Test series, beginning on 26th December, the Boxing Day.
The momentum gained by the New Zealand side in the T20I series by winning the first two games consecutively was significantly cut short by the Pakistan side as they won the series’ last game. So, going into this match, it would be difficult to single out any favourites, but because of the home conditions for the Kiwis, they would definitely have a slight advantage over their opponents in some situations.
The weather at Mount Maunganui is forecasted to be mainly sunny during the days of the game being played, with an occasional passing rain shower expected around the 2nd day. The temperature will stay around 22 Degrees Celsius.
It is expected that the pitch at this venue will be a surface where the batsmen will be tasked with facing bowlers who will get a lot of support from the surface. The batsmen would find it difficult to score runs here, apart from a couple of deliveries.
