MS Dhoni (9.5 credits)
Everyone was looking forward to watching MS Dhoni bat in this year’s IPL. But he looks visibly rusty with the long gap he has had. He had 91 runs at a decent strike rate in 3 innings and was dismissed just once.
But those who watched the matches will testify that he could not rotate the strike well, nor hit the big shots against the quality bowlers. And definitely, his numbers are inflated by the shots played after the game was out of reach. Although the talent of MS Dhoni remains unquestioned, age has undoubtedly caught up with him and it would be better to leave him out of your Dream 11 team.
Glenn Maxwell (9 credits)
The performance of Glenn Maxwell in the IPL was a mystery, nobody was able to solve. Glenn Maxwell appears to be an abject disappointment, despite going for big bucks year after year. He hasn’t done much of note since his heroics in 2014, and even this season has a mere 30 runs in four matches.
He has been anything but in shape and flattered himself to deceive. In addition, he only had 12 runs in 3 innings in Dubai. With numbers and form that do not favor Glenn Maxwell, it’s best to keep him out of this match.
Shane Watson (9 credits)
Shane Watson is another Aussie all-rounder who has struggled to get going this season. In four consecutive matches, he has failed and has only scored 52 runs. He looked incredibly uncomfortable with quality pace bowling, and it’s not going to be easy for him again with the likes of Sheldon Cottrell and Mohammed Shami in the opposition. There are a lot of top-order batsmen in this match, so it would be better to avoid going for Shane Watson.
